The professional's guide to wound product selection

Cellular, acellular and matrix-like products

Endoform

An extracellular matrix (ECM) restorative bioscaffold derived from ovine (sheep) source for use in the healing of acute and hard-to-heal wounds. Supports all phases of wound healing and is appropriate for use early in wound management to restore protease balance and advance healing to the proliferative phase.

Integra Dermal Regeneration Template

A bilayer membrane system for skin replacement. The dermal replacement layer is made of a porous matrix of fibres of cross-linked bovine tendon collagen and glycosaminoglycan (chondroitin-6-sulphate) that are manufactured to have a controlled porosity and defined degradation rate. The collagen-glycosaminoglycan biodegradable matrix provides a scaffold for cellular invasion and capillary growth. The epidermal substitute layer is made of a thin polysiloxane (silicone) layer to control moisture loss from the wound. The silicone outer layer is removed when the dermal skin has regenerated and is replaced with a thin epidermal skin graft.

Integra Dermal Regeneration Template Single Layer

Available in thin and regular thicknesses, this is an advanced matrix for dermal regeneration. The dermal replacement layer, which consists of a porous three-dimensional matrix comprised of bovine tendon collagen and chondroitin-6-sulphate, is designed to have a controlled porosity and defined degradation rate. It promotes wound healing in a single application. Integra Single Layer Template can be used as a standalone matrix or in combination with the bilayer Integra Template to add extra thickness to the dermal layer, when wounds of different depths are to be treated.

Integra Meshed Dermal Regeneration Template

An advanced bilayer matrix for dermal regeneration. The dermal replacement layer, consisting of a porous three-dimensional matrix comprised of bovine tendon collagen and chondroitin-6-sulfphate, is designed to have a controlled porosity and defined degradation rate, and promotes wound healing in a single application. The temporary epidermal layer is made of synthetic polysiloxane (silicone). The semipermeable silicone membrane controls water vapour loss, provides a flexible adherent covering for the wound surface, and adds increased tear strength to the device. Can be used in conjunction with NPWT.

Microlife WatchBP Office ABI

Dual cuff pressure monitor for the assessment of ankle brachial pressure index (ABPI) and the detection of atrial fibrillation (AF). During a rest period of at least 5 minutes, the blood pressure is measured in both arms simultaneously to determine which has the highest and to screen for AF. Next, the arm with the highest blood pressure and both legs are measured simultaneously. WatchBP software then facilitates an automated ABPI assessment within 4 minutes. Validated by the NHS Technology Adoption Centre. System comprises cuffs, mini USB port, rechargeable battery pack and an automated office blood pressure measurement device.

MicroMatrix

Easy-to-use dermal repair matrix in powder form that allows intimate contact with all parts of the wound, even in irregular-shaped and/or deep wounds. An extracellular matrix (ECM) derived from porcine urinary bladder matrix (UBM) technology, it provides an environment that supports new tissue formation and wound healing. It is acellular, minimally-processed, non-crosslinked and completely resorbable and is associated with a modified inflammatory response.

Myriad Matrix

Engineered extracellular matrix (ECM) derived from an ovine (sheep) source for soft-tissue repair and complex wounds. Specifically designed to help maximise tissue repair while providing versatility and adaptability across a wide range of surgical applications.

Oasis

Derived from porcine small intestinal submucosa (SIS). SIS products support the body’s own healing process by providing a natural extracellular matrix (ECM) scaffold that remodels into patient tissue.

PriMatrix Dermal Repair Scaffold

Acellular dermal tissue matrix derived from fetal bovine dermis. Particularly rich in type III collagen, which is found in fetal dermis and is associated with developing and healing tissues. It creates an environment that supports cellular repopulation and revascularisation. Suitable for the management of the most challenging wounds, notably ulcers on the lower limb. Free of contaminants and artificial chemical crosslinks. Available in solid, fenestrated and meshed versions (meshed can be expanded 2:1).

Spectrix

Formerly known as Epifix, this is minimially manipulated, dehyrdated, non-viable, human cellular amniotic/chorion membrane (dHACM) allograft derived from the placenta. It contains multiple extracellular matrix proteins, growth factors, cytokines and other specialty proteins present in amniotic tissue to provide a barrier membrane that enhances healing.
