Description

Single-use, portable negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) system that manages low to moderate volumes of exudate. Designed to manage two wounds simultaneously via an integrated Y-connector. The lightweight pump delivers negative pressure of -80mmHg to two wounds simultaneously, providing therapy for up to 7 days. Consists of 1 pump, 2 sterile dressings, sterile retention strips and 2 AA batteries. NICE medical technologies guidance support the use of PICO for closed surgical incisions in the NHS.

Indications

Examples of appropriate wound types include: chronic, acute, traumatic, subacute and dehisced wounds, partial-thickness burns, ulcers (such as diabetic or pressure), flaps and grafts, and surgically-closed incision sites

Contraindications

Do not use on patients with malignancy in the wound bed or wound margins (except in palliative care to improve quality of life); previously confirmed or untreated osteomyelitis; non-enteric and unexplored fistulas; necrotic tissue with eschar present; exposed arteries, veins, nerves or organs; exposed anastomotic sites; emergency airway aspiration; pleural, mediastinal or chest tube drainage; and surgical suction.
