Description

Single-use, portable, negative pressure wound therapy system that manages low to moderate volumes of exudate. The lightweight pump delivers negative pressure of -80mmHg and provides therapy for up to 14 days. Consists of 1 pump, 2 sterile dressings, sterile retention strips and 2 AA batteries. NICE medical technologies guidance support the use of PICO for closed surgical incisions in the NHS.

Indications

Wound types including chronic, acute, traumatic, subacute and dehisced wounds. Also partial-thickness burns, ulcers (such as diabetic or pressure), flaps and grafts. Suitable for use in hospital and home care settings.

Contraindications

Patients with malignancy in or on the margins of the wound (except in palliative care to enhance quality of life). Confirmed and untreated osteomyelitis. Non-enteric and unexplored fistulas. Necrotic tissue with eschar present. Exposed arteries, veins, nerves, organs or anastomotic sites. Should not be used for emergency airway aspiration; pleural, mediastinal or chest tube drainage; or surgical suction.
